In 1989, the United Nation adopted a treaty known as The Convention on the Rights of the Child. Article 24 in the treaty states that ‘State Parties recognize the right of the child to the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of health …’ The WHO health-promoting school concept recognizes that schools are an important setting for the promotion of health among children and adolescents and an ideal environment to acknowledge the UN convention on the Rights of the Child.
